Model Overview

The Baojun Yunduo is a five-seater all-electric compact family hatchback launched in August 2023 by the Baojun brand under SAIC-GM-Wuling, also commonly referred to domestically as the "Wuling Cloud EV". Officially launched on 10 August 2023, the EV features an all-new electric drive system and is offered in two CLTC range variants of 360 km and 460 km, with launch prices ranging between RM95,800 and RM123,800. The model lineup was subsequently expanded, with the range-topping variant priced up to RM145,800. The entire lineup comes standard with a 136 PS (100 kW) high-output electric motor, adopting a 5-door, 5-seater layout and flush electric door handles across all variants. Positioned as a "spacious 5-seater all-electric family car", it directly rivals the BYD Dolphin and later secured approval for Shanghai's NEV complimentary license plate quota.

Design Language

The Baojun Yunduo adopts an official design philosophy dubbed "Sky Aesthetics", characterised by a rounded and curvaceous silhouette. Up front, it features a tiered front fascia paired with full-width LED daytime running lights (DRLs) and polygonal headlamps, creating an approachable, smiling face when viewed head-on. The side profile incorporates crossover-inspired styling cues, complemented by a 150 mm ground clearance, a panoramic glass roof, aero-styled alloy wheels, and flush pop-out door handles that enhance its cohesive, high-tech aesthetics. At the rear, full-width taillights feature upward-swept ends on both sides, ensuring distinctive visual recognition when lit. For exterior colours, three cloud-themed hues were initially introduced: "Cloud Sea White", "Twilight Purple", and "Smoke Cloud Green". Measuring 4,295 mm long, 1,850 mm wide, and 1,652 mm tall with a 2,700 mm wheelbase, its compact exterior footprint yields segment-exceeding cabin space.

Powertrain & Performance

Underneath, the Baojun Yunduo is built on a next-generation three-electric system platform, powered by a standard front-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 100 kW (136 PS) and 200 Nm of peak torque across the range, with a top speed of 150 km/h. Energy is stored in a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack with cells sourced from Huating, REPT BATTERO, or ZENERGY. It is available in two capacities—37.9 kWh and 50.6 kWh—delivering CLTC-rated ranges of 360 km and 460 km, respectively. The battery pack employs Cell-to-Pack (CTP) packaging technology and features a liquid cooling thermal management system. All variants support both AC and DC fast charging; the 460 km version can be DC fast-charged from 30% to 80% in as little as 30 minutes and supports a 220V Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) external power supply function. While the 0-100 km/h sprint time has not been officially highlighted across all trims, its claimed 0-50 km/h time of 4.0 seconds ensures snappy, responsive urban commuting.

Chassis & Handling

Chassis-wise, the Baojun Yunduo adopts a front-motor, front-wheel-drive (FWD) layout, equipped with front MacPherson independent struts and a rear torsion beam semi-independent suspension. Key sections of the rear axle are forged from 1,500 MPa ultra-high-strength steel, doubling the rigidity compared to conventional torsion beams in the segment. The front subframe utilises a full-perimeter steel frame with three crossbeams and two longitudinal members, secured via a six-point mount to the monocoque to optimise load distribution and driving stability. Low-speed creep function, Electric Power Steering (EPS), and an Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) with Auto Hold are standard across the range, complemented by an E-booster electronic brake control system that enhances pedal modulation and stopping response. Acoustic comfort is bolstered by 24 optimised NVH sound-deadening packages throughout the vehicle, alongside selectable drive modes—Eco, Normal, and Sport—to suit varying driving preferences.

Cabin & Features

The interior of the Baojun Yunduo prioritises comfort and connectivity. Offered in two upholstery themes—"Emerald Green" and "Black Pearl"—the cabin features thickly padded faux-leather seats with hexagonal stitching, marketed as "Cloud Sofa" seats, with 6-way power adjustment for the driver and 4-way power adjustment for the front passenger. The driver gets a two-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel and a column-mounted electronic gear selector. An 8.8-inch floating digital instrument cluster comes standard, while central infotainment is handled by either a 10.1-inch screen on base variants or a 15.6-inch floating touchscreen on higher trims, running the Ling OS 2.0 operating system with 4G connectivity, OTA updates, and mobile app connectivity. Additional equipment includes a 360-degree surround-view camera system (from the mid-spec variant up), driver's one-touch power window, automatic climate control, rear air-conditioning vents, a PM2.5 air purifier, Qi wireless smartphone charger, and 256-colour ambient lighting (460 Max). Boot space starts at 520 litres, expanding to a cavernous 1,707 litres with the rear seats folded flat.

Safety & Intelligent Driving

Safety on the Baojun Yunduo spans comprehensive passive and active protection. On the passive front, the vehicle incorporates a 'three-zone, five-ring' ultra-high-strength steel safety cage, equipped with up to six airbags (front, side, and curtain airbags). Powering the EV is Wuling's Shenlian Battery, which completed CATARC's stringent 'Triathlon' endurance trials exceeding national standards—comprising a 40 km/h underbody scraping test, a 42-hour continuous vibration test, and a 1-hour immersion test—earning a national-level battery quality challenge certification.

For active safety and ADAS, variants from the 360 Pro upwards are equipped with the "Lingxi Intelligent Driving 2.0" suite co-developed with DJI Automotive. Utilizing a vision-centric architecture prioritising binocular stereo vision without relying on LiDAR or HD maps, the sensor suite comprises an 8-megapixel inertial stereo camera, four surround-view cameras, a rear monocular camera, one millimetre-wave radar, and 12 ultrasonic sensors. Key capabilities include industry-pioneering mapless Highway Navigation Pilot (NOP), multi-storey Memory Parking Assist (with up to 1 km route memory), and Reversing Tracking Assist. These are complemented by full-speed Adaptive Cruise Control (0–130 km/h), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), and a 540-degree transparent chassis camera system.

Market Performance & Reception

The Baojun Yunduo racked up over 5,000 bookings on its launch night, showing strong initial market momentum. However, amidst intensifying price wars and segment competition, monthly sales tapered to around 260 units heading into 2025, placing it lower in China's domestic compact EV charts. In regional export markets, the car is marketed as the "Wuling Cloud EV". In Indonesia, it is locally assembled (CKD) at Wuling Motors' plant in Cikarang, backed by an initial lifetime warranty on core EV components (battery, motor, and electronic controller); it accounted for 60.7% of Wuling's total EV bookings at the PEVS (Periklindo Electric Vehicle Show), establishing itself as a key pillar in the brand's ASEAN EV offensive; Hong Kong receives Indonesian-built right-hand-drive (RHD) units, with prices under the "One-for-One Replacement" scheme starting from approximately RM178,850. Overseas reviews of its front MacPherson and rear high-strength torsion beam chassis have generally yielded neutral to positive feedback regarding ride comfort and road bump compliance. On the industry front, the Yunduo clinched top spot in the automated parking category at the 11th Xuanyuan Awards. In summary, the Baojun Yunduo's well-rounded product package, DJI-powered Lingxi 2.0 ADAS technology, and strategic right-hand-drive export footprint represent its defining strengths in the competitive compact EV arena.
